You are getting rejected from all job applications and you are frustrated ?? HR hates this one trick…. .docx resumes cannot be parsed by some Application Tracking System(ATS) so your resume gets auto rejected for not meeting qualifications. Only submit .pdf or .doc resumes so HR has to actually review it before rejecting. I hate the system but learn to adopt or die in obscure recruiting software hellscape while you ponder that you are just not good enough. #tech #hiring #recruiting #jobhunt
Has to be pdf too because I am getting rejected all the time
Latex also isn’t parsed correctly is it
GOOG are you talking about latex turned into a pdf or raw latex?
"Raw latex" is an oxymoron. You either go raw, or use latex.
ATS systems are a legend
Who actually submits in Docx!
If you’re applying, companies that use an ATS is probably a red flag anyway
Any company larger than a few dozen people use an ATS.
Also those companies: “hiring is so hard” Here’s a thought: ever tried reading the resumes that these candidates spent hours typing up?
Most ATS can read Docx. You still should use PDF.
Why would the system allow you to upload a file format that it can't parse? This doesn't make any sense.
There are so many things in hiring world that make 0 sense. I am only waiting for recruiting to be automated to an extent by LLMs .. ATS are basically useless and recruiters don’t care enough about sampling or reading beyond a script. Hiring managers +LLMs as gatekeepers and recruiters for ‘operational tasks’ should be the way but we have recruiters who are only interested in checking off boxes rather than asking why they are doing things in the first place.
@T-Mobile because the engineers that build them don’t ask recruiters what’s broken and what works. They just build the damn things and say “Here you go!”
Mine is pdf still getting rejected
Thank you!!! I keep telling people this and no one seems to believe me.
If they are not able to understand basics like this maybe they shouldn't be in the tech business
It’s the system for parsing, not the HR. Which means it’s the developers fault
