How is the Microsoft WDG group? Specifically quality group within that? Heard slow career growth, slow comp growth etc

Shit show. Bad processes, terrible “leadership”, politics amuck, layoffs every quarter, good ole boys club and don’t dare have an opinion. Don’t do it, go join amazon, Apple or google while Microsoft works through their reflush.. oops refresh.
It's a piece of shit. WDG data is a mafia org where illitrate old white men get themselves promoted.

Nightmare, one of the worst if not the worst in the entire company and exemplifies all of the negative stereotypes about Microsoft. Absolutely Terryble place to grow your career (ask someone from Microsoft what this means). Run for your life!
Depends on which team you are joining, in general a lot of opportunities to have an impact. Unless you land in a team that is taking care of legacy components that have 0 active development or investment. Feel free to PM me if you want to know more.
Windows is legacy trying to stay alive a few more years. As the writing is on the wall all thought leaders have long since jumped ship to groups and products with a future. Hence Windows is not the place to be for opportunity. It may make sense at either ends of a carrier still. Early start learning the ropes and this product is somewhat as good as another. Career end when promotion is anyway not in the cards (the management that remained behind) . Still there is the risk of getting side tracked in dead technical skills with no future applicability or very hard time finding a job if caught in a Rif.

Commenters seems to believe WDG == Windows Core. It's not. It's a huge org with many divisions working on different products under different leaders. Be specific where you consider to go if you want to get an answer. (I am formally in Quality WDG, and don't recognize this "white supremacist Hillary-supporters no ladies" club others are a suffering from.

I don't see any growth for service based quality engineers, i am not aware of quality engineer growth for hardware teams though
