What are you're thoughts?
I have heard Twilio is a very good developer oriented company. However, I also heard a lot of news articles taking about how Twilio needs to do more than what it is already, to earn$$$. The developer culture is so ingrained that they don't hire any sales people unless they are developers themselves. So with that said, make the decision, good luck
Anyone who work for twilio here ?
I work for Twilio
What's it like as far as sales and marketing
Sales and marketing have been in constant flux for five years, but are stabilizing. Executive team is finally providing focus on that area. Engineering still dominates, but the shift is slowly happening.
Twilio as a whole offers an incredible set of growth opportunities for any employee. Twilio expects employees to find their own path and solutions to problems and rewards those who excel at this greatly. However, middle management is a pain and determines the future of too many bright individuals. There is a sore deficit in strong leadership at this level that causes many high potential young employees to bail.
So far I've been really pleased with the work and the culture. it's very dev centric as mentioned, and yeah that's caused some growth issues. OTOH, sales is ramping up now under new leadership, so there's a shift to focus more on it. so far no damage to the culture thankfully
it would be great if someone can provide the comp/culture/levels/benefits for engineering(equivalent for sde-2/sde-3 Amazon).
It is kinda vanilla. Nothing special in my experience. Smart people but the culture is kind of bland. They do have a culture group but many feel the company has outgrown them. Good place to come sit on some RSUs for a while and then bail.
I applied and was interested as well. I liked what they advertised as far as a very open to developing new projects on your own and show it off. not sure how that translates to reality as we all know that breaks down when deadlines exists
