I heard about this role at Facebook. What is the pay scale for this kind of role? Is it as high as SWE roles?
People are stupid though, I went for on-site and they said really dumb stuff. You will go for money, talent is shit
Like they didn't know the subject or something? Or they didn't impress you I guess?
They don't know the subject and most of the interviewers sounded like they want to hear the thing they know and nothing new or alternative approach. I could feel a sense of pride in them. One of the interviewers asked me an analysis as to how would i approach it, i gave the core logic and he said no but there is a tool out there already for it( I mean he wants to know the fundamental behind the tool or just the tool command)?
Perf engineer IS swe. Take the Qualcomm guy with a grain of salt.
I didn't claim that my view is the benchmark, I just shared my experience and a friend who had a similar experience. TBH they don't do any coding few scripts here and there, the position sounds more like a server load administrator. I would highly suggest you going and seeing it yourself. It's funny how every FB engineer these days just defends the company's image with no logic.
You called us “stupid and saying dumb shit”. And now I’m “every engineer these days defending the company”. I think I see a pattern. And possibly a reason you are so salty and not at FB.
Not much quality engineers are there compared to AI or Ad Infra teams. Source: I left FB last year
Thank you for the insight
