Yoe 12yrs, almost 4 years in Amazon, I have given couple of interviews in Google but got rejected in the first round only. I know I was not prepared much but for my last interview i was not expecting a reject. Google interviewer is again reaching out to me to reapply but i am that scared that I should not apply to Google unless I am thoroughly prepared (i never do preparation for interviews usually) I have a belief that it is really tough for older people like me (yoe 12 yrs) and having several rejects in the past to Crack Google swe interviews in India. Can someone please share their experiences? #google #india #bangalore #hyderabad TC 32L base + 50lakhs rsu (getting exhausted in this 4th year)
What level did you apply for?
Honestly, I don't know, recruiter just scheduled a phone screen and I was kind of desperate to apply for Google
Phone screen for L3/L4 is not that difficult. Were you able to solve those problems later, without the stress of the interview? If not, you should definitely refresh algorithm/data structure basics before applying again.
No, I didn't practice many questions for Google. Most of the questions were easy but I got this difficult question from treap, I was able to solve it only bcos I did CF, Leetcoders wouldn't be able to optimize that much.
You were asked Treap in Google Interview ? Don't you think this is wrong expectation ? Google India seems to be biased towards competitive programmers.
What was the question, and did you really solve it?
'got rejected in the first round only' What do you mean 'only'?
It’s an Indian substitute for the word ‘itself’. Happens when you literally translate from Hindi to English.
I am an undergraduate in a tier 1 college in india. I have done around 700 problems on Leetcode and am a Master on codeforces. I am confident enough to pass their interview process but the major problem on my end is HOW TO GET AN INTERVIEW AT GOOGLE? Yes they visited my college during internship process but only took interviews of students from CSE dept who have a good cgpa. That day I was really sad😢 because I knew I was better than all of them. Please tell me how to get an interview at Google at a new grad level?
I can refer you, we are hiring for our team in google cloud. :)
I'm not aware of master in codeforces having any impact on selection at Google.
You will get L3. That ship called Google has sailed.
L3 at 12 years of experience? Shouldn't it be atleast L5 and ideally L6?
All depends on your interview performance.
Doesn't matter if it's India or US. Google tries to maintain same standard across. You'd need solid understanding of CS fundamentals in order to get in.
Thanks. I may be wrong but I noticed that interviews for India positions are bit tougher, not just in Google but for other companies too. Talking from one of my past interview experience which I gave for Google hq, but it might be one off case. Some of my friends also shared this perception who are now in Google
I understand where you are coming from. Googlers generally ask questions from their question bank. So it should be pretty standard across. If you are strong in your fundamentals shouldn't really matter. Also once you get hired at Google, you can move around anywhere after an year or so. Source: Recently got hired by G
OP, just an additional pointer, at 12 YoE you'll need to be good with system design as well. I've interacted with people who have interviewed at Google and recruiters at Google and they say system design is much tougher to crack when compared to coding rounds.
Google India has people who have done competitive coding. So they ask bunch of nonsense mathematical questions which requires specific algorithms. If you don't know them, you ain't have no chance. Except perks, nothing is better in Google India.
You were in Google India?
I've friends there.
Google uses swe for in-house application development and support. It’s good to join Google as software developer rather than SWE. As software developer, you may get chances to work on customer facing apps and promising career growth. From pay perspective, there is inequality between swe and sd.
What is the official designation of software dev in google? Is it called swe only?
This is BS. SWEs do a lot of customer facing and considered "Top Shelf" of software engineering ladders in terms of TC etc. Please don't spread rumors op
Leetcode count?
4-5 at max
But I gave atleast 70+ interviews in the past and never faced rejections at this scale, may be i am tired or frustrated due to continuous rejections in this pandemic
