I just turned down Amazon SDE offer by informing the recruiter that I’m scared of the horror stories (devPlan, PIP, etc.) and that I won’t change my mind. She responded with an essay about how anonymous platforms are unreliable and that it’s a very small minority of people who tend to amplify the negative aspects of their Amazon experience. I responded - “I’d love to work at Amazon in the future, but only if I see change in the positive direction. I wish you the best of luck in bringing that change.” I know this won’t make much difference. But even if 50% of people turning their offer down give similar reasoning, it will probably ring some bells in upper management. YoE: 4 TC: $180k TC offered by Amazon: ~$210k #pip #worklifebalance #offer
Why do I feel bad for the recruiter.. it's really not her fault loll
I worked at amzn for 4yrs. Did not get PIPd, but yet the worst 4yrs of my life. You made a good decision. All the best.
The CEO comes from the organization that is the most toxic of all in Amazon, so not sure they care
The culture is deeply ingrained, it won’t change. If leadership got more of these stories and think it’s starting to affect the bottom line, they will just try to employ more PR. That’s about it.
Will PR stop the affected people from posting on blind? I guess, not.
Microsoft and GE were both able to change their PIP culture. Amazon can as well if it wanted to.
Why does Blind say so bad of Amazon? I know two people very very closely, been in Amazon for 10 years now. They are really into it and they love it. The work, the team, pretty much everything.
Two people is a very very small sample. I think you know that.
They also don’t know any better likely.lol.
Good job my man! Yeah I agree that this sort of mass movement is needed to teach the execs a lesson.
They will continue feeding their employees 🍌🍌🍌
Why do you interview at all? I will never apply for Amazon.
It’s a decent practice interview if nothing else. I don’t mean Lc mediums but more behavioral and basic system design
I see your point. Maybe it's a good practice for people without much interview experiences. Otherwise, seems a waste of time to me.
props
Did the same last year! 🤗
