I havn't owned a personal computer for years, just have my work computer and I also use it for personal things (like email, fb, banking etc) My wife just purchased a fancy laptop as a personal computer, and spent $3500. (it's a ThinkPad) I think it's a waste of money, but she insists it'll be put to good use. Do you own a personal computer or do you just use your work computer for everything?
Using your work computer for anything than work is insane. Why do I want my company to be able to see every click, every link, every password and every email? Forget it!
What will they do anything with it?
Put him on a PIP, of course
Working at Amazon and personal browsing on their laptop ... A great example of “I have nothing to hide”
Why women could not buy a $3500 computer with their own money ... ? This comment is so sexist.
I never said anything you have mentioned, so may be you have sexist mind, based on your interpretation. It’s uncommon to buy Thinkpad worth $3500. That’s the whole point. Even laptops with great configuration would be no more than $2500-$3000.
I had bought a second laptop when I worked at amazon so that I wouldn’t have to take a laptop home with me every day. I think I’ve used it twice since leaving amazon. It worked well there because everything was done on my cloud desktop. Since leaving amazon everything is now done on the physical laptop so haven’t tried to do the same thing.
I have an old dell Inspiron laptop. Always connected to plug. Recently changed its boot partition to a SSD, and boy it flies! It’s dual boot with Ubuntu. Unless I want to 👍💦, I use my work laptop for everything
Exactly same!
My work computer runs windows so .. yeah, I have a personal computer (several, actually)
I have multiple computers, one for leetcode, one for content consumption (surfing the net, movies), and one for travelling.
Computers are not apps you know. They can do multiple things.
But no one computer is good at everything. M1 MacBook has 20 hours of battery life and is good for traveling. For gaming maybe you want Windows and a high refresh rate monitor. For content consumption, maybe a 4K OLED. For Leetcode probably a good desktop setup with a high quality ergonomic keyboard so you don't damage your hands.
Never use my employer laptops for anything unrelated to their work..... hence I have my own iPad in the backpack and laptop at home. A bus driver would not want to use their company transport to go grocery shopping and I dont want to use the employer laptop for my own business.... horses for courses.
I do have a personal laptop, but soon going to give it to my sister. Not planning to buy another one after that.
