Hey H1B worker. Did you leave USA for ever? If so, where did you end up? If not, do you have concrete plans of doing so within the next 5 years? For people with other answers, do you ever think (day dreaming is fine too) we (every single one on H1B along with families) should just plan a mass exodus? Vent all you want. TC: 100k
I don’t even have a concrete plan for next 5 days 🙄
Left for Canada...life's good so far...been a year!
Still at fb?
Where in Canada? What’s the TC before and after?
Lots of my friends left even after MBA from top schools like Harvard. They’re either startup founders or VPs in investment outside of America.
People dream of coming to the US, I dream of going back to India. Hopefully soon.
Wait why do you have dream? Isn’t it as simple as hauling yourself to airport and putting yourself on plane?
Why? By the way I'm dreaming of coming to US for 4 years and then going back to India.
Left for Canada and very pleased with the decision
H1Bs in USA.... yes TC is lower on Canada but there is a legitimate tech scene in Toronto. Companies out here building different useful products. Canada treats its immigrants like respect. Have some self respect. Don’t be a prostitute, wearing golden handcuffs and dancing around because of dollar bills thrown at you
We are not cheap prostitutes !!! We are expensive ones 😛
Word. Edited comment
How many of whoever left the USA also have a US born kid?
👋
I moved to Canada last year after 10 years in the US. I was tired of the visa headache and the repeated unexplained rejection of PERM application by DoL. Even when I finally got the PERM approval, I realized I was in a queue with a huge backlog of at least 10 years and as much as 50 years. Meanwhile, Canada gave me a PR within one year of applying. I thought why am I begging at the feet of the USA when Canada is welcoming me with open arms. Immigrant life is hard in any country. Why not make it a little less hard by moving to Canada where your status is more assured, and your skills are more valued. If the US valued your skills, they wouldn't dilly-dally with giving you a permanent status asap.
Since polls can’t be edited: if you are considering leaving soon or if you have left, are you just waiting (or waited) to complete 10 years of paying FICA so you can get that back later? Like this comment if yes. Add a comment if you wish to add more.
What is FICA? What does paying for 10 yrs accomplish?
