I’m thinking about going into public policy or global affairs at tesla and was hoping to get some details on how the work culture is at tesla
Hard working, strong ownership, often changing requirements. Nobody cares you about your race, language, gender, just get the work done.
From my experience here, this work culture is not for me. Some people thrive in it. Some people like myself are miserable. Tesla expects you to make huge sacrifices for the company, and many are happy to do so. For me, my mental health suffered, my stress and anxiety went through the roof, and ultimately I felt like the company doesn’t give back to employees the same as employees give to company - it just doesn’t feel like they give a shit about us. Yes it’s rewarding work, fast paced, you can see the fruits of your labor, can be proud of your work etc. but at what cost? Depends on what you’re looking for if pros outweigh the cons.
Oh also cafeteria food is not good and is expensive, parking situation is shitty and time consuming, work areas are crowded, tech available to employees is not great (especially non-eng roles), there’s no company events (not even a holiday party), no budget for team bonding, they are cheap about everything.
About parking situation- May I know where was your office? My wife has an offer and this deciding, so will be very helpful. Thanks!

Toxic - manipulative - back biting... in all honesty - I’d run far far away from them
