Decided to get off the hedonic treadmill. I’m putting in my 10 month notice tomorrow... pretty excited. Hit FI and delayed it 3 times now. Has anyone here done the same or looking to? Actually retired early, have a crazy long departure notice. Edit: deed done.
Respect!
Congrats and fuck you! =) Awesome that you're giving team long time to transition. For those that wonder about the "fuck you", it's tradition on financial Independence subreddit
Thx. Though at 40 (41 by the time I quit) I’m not nearly as young as the growing number of 30yr old FIRE folks.
That's only in the Bay and stories you read about. Most people on that Reddit likely won't hit FIRE until near retirement age, but they don't post as often and it doesn't make as good of a story.
10 months?? You can do that far away?? If my company heard you were on your way out, you wouldn't be allowed to stay 10 months. That's enough time to hire and fire someone.
Ideally I want them to replace me as soon and smoothly as possible. I’ve done my time if they replace me within days I’m totally cool with it.
That’s great! Enjoy the rest of you life!
Congrats!
What are you going to do now?
I’m not leaving till 9/3/18. So till then it’s work like hell to prevent scope creep and beach this project successfully. After that... something with lotsa sun and public (nakid?) drunkenness. jk

Why are women naked in gym?
Is 10 month notice in your contract? Wtf?
Are you assuming a US mindset here? Some other countries have rules about quitting jobs... Perhaps this applies to the OP.
I’m retiring. I love my team and I want them to have (ample) time to replace me.
