How to become elite at algorithm problems?
I’d like to get into g/fb, but I always fail at the phone interview. Is it possible for me to become good?

Pray to the python gods to download the wisdom of leetcode
Learn and practice. Algorithms textbook + 1-2 hours of leetcode per day for a year will make a ton of difference (less for some, more for some). Just don’t forget about the other stuff, like soft skills, knowing your tools and language, being good at explanation and system design considerations
Leetcode might help, but the key is to be smart! Think of the bigger picture, think what they need and how you can help.

Learn algorithms and practice a lot until you have a good intuition when solving an algorithmic question.
Holy shit you got into Netflix? And can intuition be improved via practice?
Solving hard algorithmic problems can still be hard even after tons of practice, but for solving easy/medium problems most of the time it becomes some sort of “pattern recognition”, i.e. given X and Y, this problem must be solvable using Z, so probably should think toward Z... things like that do grow from the intuition that you can gain from practice...
