Plume Design xmso31 May 11, 2022

Wasn't it so sweet until 5 months ago?

Splunk bak494 May 11, 2022

The article literally says no layoffs

Meta noob☠️ May 11, 2022

OP only reading title lol

Netflix KoopaKing May 11, 2022

Or he’s got critical thinking skills and can see the trend of: - abrupt no more hires - abrupt cutbacks And connects the dots to see that some reductions will be necessary to get costs in line.

If they could get people to use the Quest 2 for more than a month this could have been avoided

Amazon luvkanye May 11, 2022

Tbh the quest 2 is a great concept with bad timing/execution. I wish more of my friends had it so we could play online. Not in the metaverse way but like how we used to play GTA/CoD

Meta 12l102312i May 12, 2022

big if true on the more than a month. I get free games/apps on the Quest and still only used it for a month before the novelty ran out.

Apple moolah May 11, 2022

Wait… How can metaverse be a reality if they cut hardware people?

Absolute trash grade "reporting"

Amazon CokeAddict May 11, 2022

Cutback on projects makes sense. I have friends working on metaverse projects who tell me they deploy nothing to prod. They just build prototypes. I can’t believe that teams of engineers are just working on prototypes with no business outcome.

Adobe 🌶️♨️ May 11, 2022

Reality "LABS". They aren't code monkeys to churn out indentation updates every week

Amazon CokeAddict May 11, 2022

Yeah, labs or not, you need to showcase value. Working on a new prototype every 2 weeks seems insane to me. I’ve worked on teams at Amazon where we’ve done experiments, but those experiments are brought to a small percentage of users, we document the behaviors, use that data to fuel the next experiment. Each experiment makes it infront of some customers and we wrote our hypothesis and then validated those with the results.

Meta Kuph85 May 11, 2022

“Bosworth told staffers the division could not afford to do some projects anymore and would have to postpone others, without specifying which projects would be affected.” ⬇️ “cutbacks” ⬇️ “layoffs” 🤦‍♂️

Adobe 🌶️♨️ May 11, 2022

And this line specifically "She said Meta was not planning layoffs as part of the changes."

EA ublazz May 11, 2022

Every time I have heard that from an executive it means layoffs. I don’t know why they deny it. If no layoffs were being considered then no denial would be mentioned like usual. The best example was corporate flying in to a studio to tell us in person no layoffs planned. 2 weeks later, the studio not only did a layoff but was given a 6 month shut down schedule lol

Meta fomosapien May 11, 2022

Clickbait 101: 1. Have Meta in title 2. Have negative news about Meta in title. 3. Rest of the post doesn’t matter if your username is ‘junkgrab’
