After 20 years in the US, I’m moving back to India in few days. Reflecting on these 2 decades, I loved my time here. I came as a bachelor, and going back as a family man. I came here with a negative net worth (loan) and now going back with a comfortable asset portfolio. I learned a ton and now want to see how I can take those learnings back to India and maybe create something new. I’m nervous as I never lived in India as a working adult, but also excited for new opportunities. I’m sad to leave the country I called home for half my life, but looking forward to being close to family. As Heraclitus said, “change is the only constant in life”. Good luck to everyone! How did you both get the job there? Both internal moves? Msft?
Could you share how msft salary changed from US to India( numbers)? All the best for you
It’s a fixed formula. No negotiation. 40% of US base. Bonus % remains the same but on the new base. Stock ranges are the ones published for India.
@OP what was the process at Microsoft to transfer from US to India? Did you have to interview again for an open role and switch teams or are you continuing in the same role/team?
Kids? Their education? Are they small enough to handle this change?
Do you have kids?
Op's lucky to afford masters without working in India 20 years ago. That negative NW isn't MUCH imo Good luck
True… And Thank you!

Trump may consider shaking up the federal reserve if elected.
Why did you decide to move?
Didn’t see a reason not to.
