Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement! I got quite a few comments about resume reviews. Happy to help! Please DM a link and an example job posting. I prefer to go over a resume with some context if possible. I am also quite slow at this so appreciate your patience :) Edit 2: There were interest in how I've prepped. Shared a post at https://www.teamblind.com/post/3yGXjV8V to discuss more about the interview prep.
Congrats. Which one did you pick? Also what tool did you use for that chart?
I ended up going with Netflix. The chart type is called a "Sankey" diagram. I used https://sankeymatic.com/build/.
How did you study for your interviews? LCs, system designs, etc?
Yup, LC, system design, and research about the company/team/role. I am a bit weird and actually enjoy LC in my spare time, so I've been practicing LC for ~2 years now. But folks definitely DO NOT need to practice so much to pass these interviews. 80%+ of my questions were all LC medium. And being able to brute-force and write a working solution for LC hards will usually get you rest of the way there. System design comes in two flavors in my experience: Product System Design (design Uber, YouTube, etc), and Distributed System Design (design DB sharding engine, stateful socket servers, etc). Last but not least, research on the company/team/role/mission was important and I think served as a differentiating factor in a few interviews.
How do you research on the team? Where do you get info from?
Congrats!
135 isnt even a lot. Congrats
Could you help with a resume review ..?
Sure, feel free to DM.
Amazing OP Happy for you
Nice job, OP. New TC is š„ Hope you take some time to be proud of yourself and celebrate! How did you decide between Nvidia and Netflix?
Thank you so much! Deciding between the two was hard. But it came down to comp #ās and the project domains. Role at Netflix is closer to the users and the companyās bottom-line. It is a mid level role that pays like a senior. In my mind, thereās more room to grow (applies to comp as well). And itās a new domain for me. Role at Nvidia is platform/infra working on an emerging enterprise SaaS product. I worked on something similar at G. So I saw less room for professional growth. And the stock is already so high lol.
Wtf am I doing I guess
Yeah, fuck me, right? Iām 200 in with fewer hr screens and 0 offers.
What seems different in terms of the interview experience this time around compared to previous interview efforts?
Great question! In my experience: Before: - you can get an offer without being perfect - there are more positions than people in pipelines (e.g. multiple headcounts, evergreen positions) - you can negotiate harder and ask companies to wait longer for your decision (e.g. 1 week) - you can get in by sheer technical proficiency - Hiring managers sell you their team After: - you pretty much gotta be perfect in your interviews - single headcount openings with many many applications capable of passing the bar - "fit" is super important because hiring is so selective - Hiring managers have to scrutinize WHY before hiring you - barely any negotiation power - tight offer deadlines (e.g. 2 days)
Very nice answer,, thanks op
