Ford is so behind.

General Motors DougMarks Jun 23, 2023

Dude Ford is coming so late in the game, from the 3B lost from the electric vehicles they should do something. The answer is not layoff people is avoiding stupid decision makings during program development.

Delphi Automotive ik57io53? Jun 23, 2023

Why is Ford behind? Ford has several hybrid and pure electric vehicles that have been selling for some years. But, I don't know why they lose money, maybe car design is not cost effective. Similarly Rivian loses money while selling it for 80+ k. Very interesting... On the other hand, GM doesn't even have that xEV vehicles selling. And I saw in Munro video that Ultium is not great to position GM in good place in xEV race.

General Motors DougMarks Jun 23, 2023

Restructuring game, they just realized they are not cost efficient, something that GM & Stella has been working out for two years by now. In general Ford is still run as a family company making last minute changes, high complexity within their components, and having redundancy on the positions. Rivian case is more likely a supply chain mark up with their components their are not able to compete with their volume so they have to go with piece cost increase.

Lol f this Jim tool. Ford employees' morals must be in hell now. How many more f0cking around of layoff dude? Ford had so many arounds. Feel sorry for colleagues across the town.. GM isn't hiring that much now also.

no paywall version: https://archive.vn/MsHs4 Ford had hired a ton of ex rivian people into their weird programs like NEXT, Model E, and Pro. I can't say i'm surprised there are cuts going on due to "lack of alignment with goals" or whatever.

General Motors CxmR10 Jun 23, 2023

Well this is sad. I guess this correlates to more layoffs in automotive next year. Since ford did lay offs pretty early and everyone else followed suit not long after.

General Motors vettec6 Jun 23, 2023

Hope not but yeah.. I think we are still in the bubble.

Stellantis Oqpv80 Jun 24, 2023

Isn’t this like 3rd or 4th rounds of layoffs recently? Why again this time?

General Motors DougMarks Jun 25, 2023

Working at Ford you will notice that. But here’s an example there’s an DRE for DT 25MY, another for DT 26 and another for 23MY ( which is running product line) also there’s an engineer for your component quality and another for cost reduction idea for your component.

General Motors ojzopd Jun 26, 2023

I hope GM does not get inspired by this decision to do another round of layoffs

Monarch Tractor N02rtO____ Jun 27, 2023

Ford can't compete with intense culture companies like Tesla and Asian OEMs. At the end of the day, it's about culture especially in the cut throat automotive industry. Ford got beaten out by the Japanese 50 years ago. The same is happening today. They aren't quick, smart nor intense enough. It's the cold truth

General Motors vettec6 Jun 27, 2023

Yeah, Ford had a late start on the EV game. But Asian OEMs aren't really a threat. Chinese OEMs could but they are blocked by political game in NA market.

Ford Motor Company idiopath Jul 2, 2023

There appears to be mixed messaging on when the next set of layoffs are to occur. Within a few weeks or 6 months, with no consensus.
