how has ebay not done layoffs yet?

It seems like their balance sheet is awful compared to FAANG and yet, theyre still hiring and havent posted any layoffs. Any word on when the layoffs will start?

When I was there there was a large contractor population they can scale down so you don’t see layoffs of FTEs.

Ebay has been pretty lean to my awareness. Some parts of their balance sheet is not too bad, and they also did well in their earnings. But tough times ahead for all companies, I guess. How are things at TrueFit?

Wait till next year.

Yeah. Layoffs are happening when economy is not too bad. Imagine the impact when we are actually in recession (likely next yr). I do not think any company will be safe!

I think the last big one was mid 2018. There was also a smaller one in early 2019.

Jealous much?

Ebay is solid right now.. lot of pple left so they can’t afford to lay off

eBay yinza Nov 6, 2022

Steve Priest plays it super lean. Even during Covid when companies started hiring up, he came aboard and locked it all down.

^^ This. I think tech industry would have been in better shape if companies had followed a similar model.

It’s because ebay is usually pretty lean and has solid financials. Also, we don’t spread legs too far out then the sheet can cover. And lastly, eBay does care of impact on its employees lives, believe it or not. These big companies, always borrow massive amounts of money from bank and makes bets they know they can’t meet but to fuel their business/sales…they don’t care what happens tomorrow, to maintain their stock’s validity, they reduce expense. Vs at ebay P/E is generally at par
