Nope they don't really care about us. India and Indians should prioritize India and fellow Indians when making decisions. Ok
It's all geopolitics. Countries don't have friends, they only have interests. It's certainly wise to keep that in mind. India should act in the best interest of Indians just like the US and Russia should act in their own interests. If after the current war, should Russia find itself reliant on China, don't think they will continue to view India favorably if the Chinese apply pressure on them. Ukraine itself is in this mess because it trusted foreign powers to guarantee its safety. This should be a lesson to every country everywhere to learn to protect themselves. The US has a stranglehold over most countries in NATO. To be fair, this is great for Americans, not so much for the other countries. There's no way that Germany or Belgium or any of those other places will ever be free of the US. The US has no interest in them today but sooner or later that will change and the Germans and the rest will wish they never agreed to host a foreign military on their soil. The world will look very different a hundred years from now.
All European countries have already started looking towards China. US is a declining power and even the US knows it. Good chance $ won't be the reserve currency. Pretty sure Russia, China many Pacific islander countries and all countries that China has bought in Africa will support the currency they invent or back. Their military is already bigger. They are way ahead in AI. Democracy is the only lie that US is clinging on.
Yes. I agree China will be the world superpower by 2050, if not earlier.
Given that most of Europe hosts the US military in their front and backyards (and also inside their houses), they will be lucky if the US boot will let them lift their head long enough to look anywhere other than what suits the US. The US may be on the decline but the US has more economically significant vassals than China. It will prolong the decline at the end of which those vassals will wish they never invited a foreign military in their homes.
Friends don’t let friends do stupid things (alone) This is not a ally issue. This is a humanity issue. It’s not about US / UK vs India. It about innocent civilians vs war. What you choose, shows who you are, no matter why you choose it. If you are a good person you will choose good, no matter how hard it is.
India realized that they have little to win and a lot to lose by voting against russia. More than anything else, it signifies India's failure to have any clout in global affairs. It's disappointing but understandable and not surprising, only people who are inept at foreign policy will fail to understand this. It was the best decision given the circumstances. I'm not a Russia fan, I'm saying they voted with their head and not their heart.
I am saying OP is at fault for glorifying and justifying this decision using all this US / UK bullshit. LoopyPoopy you seem intelligent to know what’s going on, what’s right / wrong and accept it. But OP is glorifying this without any remorse or understanding the negatives of what India is supporting. I have a problem with that. The blind glorification of every decision.
It most definitely is an ally issue. Let's be clear - No country gives a fuck about Ukrainians. It's more about stopping Russia for the West than it is about protecting Ukraine. As for India, we need Russia to mediate between us and China and we need their support because US keeps sending aid and F-16s to Pakistan. If US was a trustable ally are India, we would align with them but it isn't so we don't. India is locked between two nuclear powers and an extremely unstable region in Kashmir, there's absolutely no way we screw an ally of 80 years for Ukraine of all countries. Also, if this was about humanity, most countries would have stopped aligning with the US based on what they've done in multiple middle East countries and their constant support for Israel. Geopolitics is never about humanity.
But I think it's high time India becomes independent. Even Russia. Like it or not Russia is now at the mercy of CCP and CCP gonna eat putin for bf, lunch and dinner. I don't think we should invest in Russian hardware. We only buy Russian hardware since most of our comms are integrated with it. We have to become self reliant. And also Pakistan is done bro. We can only have those people in our prayers. I don't think that country has any chance of a come back if anything it's likely the next Syria
We are shifting though it's happening slowly. We're reducing our orders for Sukhois and moving to Rafale. It's difficult to align ourselves with someone else. We aren't friends with China. US insists on being friends with Pakistan so that's also a no go. And any other major country in the west isn't powerful enough for us to have a highly beneficial relationship with. And we can't just cut off relations with everyone. China's army is so much better than mine despite what extremely patriotic people would like to admit. If we have no Russian support, there's not much stopping them from just taking north east and Ladakh from us
Since we are on a history tour, here's one from the book: "Joseph Stalin saw India's independence as a sham and its iconic leaders like Gandhi and Nehru as counter-revolutionary forces" https://www.rbth.com/articles/2012/05/03/what_stalin_thought_of_gandhi_and_nehru_15660 So, from your POV is it okay to support a regime that is trying to bring back the Soviet Union?
Not voting against Russia doesn't mean supporting Russia Stop thinking binary
If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. - Desmond Tutu
I am Indian. I support the russian war on its own merits irrespective of India-Russia relations. I understand the entire context of the war and this should have happened sooner, probably in 2014 itself.
