Too damn much. They dont even DO anything, lol. Crazy.

Hubspot strwrs3sux Aug 25, 2017

Ha seems like you've never recruited top quality talent full time. Honestly I don't think you can pay recruiters enough. Adding mediocre members to your team pulls the entire group down

Deloitte PVaQ48 Aug 25, 2017

Recruting is easy. Post a job, people apply. Not hard, lol. Most recruiters are outsourced to India these days.

Facebook dnpm23 OP Aug 25, 2017

180k+: where do you work and what do you do?

Amazon 2222222 Aug 25, 2017

there's no way. this poll is full of trolls

Google gCfA21 Aug 25, 2017

They deserve more than 180K. You want them to bring in great team members. $180K total comp at Facebook or Google is not that much compared to an L4 engineer

I know recruiters making $200-$300K who have been at it for 5-10 years at the same firm. Depends on which industry and roles you recruit for. There is a lot of value they provide which is why the market compensates them so well.

Can someone explain what recruiters do? From my personal experience, the companies with which I've taken jobs have had essentially nothing to do with the recruiter.

WRKSHP 🌧️☔ Aug 26, 2017

Recruiters typically 1) keep jobs updated 2) attend recruiting events to get resumes 3) post jobs online 4) organize all of the interviews to make sure both employee and interviewee are available 5) do much of the negotiating for salary/comp 6) send rejection emails 7) sometimes a 1st round screening. I think most of it is logistics and sourcing. I know the one at my company has said she's had to do as many as 10+ screening/informational interviews in a day before.

This is a joke. Almost no recruiters make over $180K Source: own a recruiting agency and have been in the industry 10+ years I'm also a Software Dev before you ask :)

Splunk FnjE83 Aug 25, 2017

Can you share how much the recruiters make , say someone with experience over a decade?

pheK Aug 25, 2017

Depends on a bunch of factors but solid agency recruiters CAN make $180k but they'd be the best of the best. Average around $70-$100 I'd say

Databricks datadicks Aug 25, 2017

I think good recruiters can pull in a lot because they take 25 to 30% of a placement's first year pay. That means they just need to place 3 to 4 engineers per year to make as much as an engineer. The ones who are employed by companies are usually pretty shitty

There's a lot of expenses as well that you're not taking into account. Average fee is 20%, very rarely 25% and I've never seen 30%
