Pinterest vs Google offer

Same level, P has more equity and less cash, in total around $50k/year more than G. Which should be better? Thanks!

Google is there since decades and has immense power to control the tech trends solely. Wait, what is Pinterest? Images? What do we do with that? Google any day...

Google YTBs33 Jun 11, 2018

Pinterest’s stock valuation is probably fantasy. The company doesn’t seem to be going anywhere

Twitter zUwB37 Jun 11, 2018

Difference would need to be significantly larger to consider Pinterest.

Haw Pinterest is still alive?

Pinterest isn't going anywhere.

Tableau krxi15 Jun 11, 2018

You are wrong. Pinterest might be gone someday soon.

Both are great places to work! Pinterest revenue and user metrics looking great.

Google YTBs33 Jun 11, 2018

Dude you’re running crappy retargeted display ads.

Pinterest Gd4Yz Jun 12, 2018

Retargeting is a tiny portion of our targeting

pineterest equity is illiquid and should not be counted at 1:1 ratio with google’s. Ask yourself will google still be around in 5 years? Now ask yourself will Pinterest?

Pinterest MIxw77 Jun 15, 2018

Will visual search/discovery and online shopping be around in 5 years? Does anyone here follow digital trends? Pinterest is positioned to win! Take another long look :)

Pinterest has ruined google image search for me. When is google going to ban them from results?

Pinterest Gd4Yz Jun 12, 2018

First, congratulations! Now, ignore all of the comments about us dying. We are at about 250m MAUs and we have more US users than Twitter. Our revenue is rumored to be about $700m this year and our margins are good (you won't see snap level losses from us). We're also not seeing revenue leveling off like snap because we focused on moving away from high priced reservation brand ads a while ago. Now, the offers. To be unbiased, you should choose Google. Say the offers are $300k Google and $350k Pinterest... G is liquid and cash in hand, P is still a risk. Assume we go public early 2019, after employee lock up you'll finally be able to sell in late 2019. What will the market conditions look like? Who knows. What will the market comps look like when you compare to Twitter, Snap, and the rest of the ad based companies? Who knows. Etc. You need to build risk into the private equity comp portion from any company. If $300k G/$350k P TC from above is made up of $180k base at G and $170k at P, and G has a 15% bonus ($27k), that means equity plus bonus portion of TC is $120k G vs $180k P. Is there a risk that P is worth less than $120k when you can finally sell? Definitely. It could be worth more, but your job is to hedge the downside risk. I would feel more comfortable once the P equity gets to $250k in this example, bringing TC to $430k. Good luck!

Excellent explanation. The delta should be bigger for you to consider Pinterest.

Pinterest MIxw77 Jun 15, 2018

Good data but risk is relatively small these days so the delta is going to be smaller (no more than 15% MAX). Pinterest is a very late stage startup with IPO momentum. With risk comes reward!
