Hey everyone, hope you all are doing well I am a fresher, I currently have two offers SDE 1 (TFS) @ Amazon Base : 14.5L Joining Bonus : 3L(1st yr) + 2L(2nd yr) Stocks : worth 10L vested in 4 yrs (5,15,40,40%) If I choose Amazon I would not get any stocks till end of 2nd/3rd yr ( since Amazon 1 unit stock value is very high) Applications Developer (Fusion SCM) @ Oracle Base : 15.5L Joining Bonus : 6L ( clawback of 2 yrs) Stocks : worth 32L vested in 4 yrs (25,25,25,25%) Pay wise definitely oracle is much higher than Amazon ( almost 8-9L difference per year) But since Amazon is more reputed than Oracle. I am having doubts. What would be your suggestion and why?
Is it true that any sde 2 if he/she wants to get internally transferred to Amazon US, within 3 months they can definitely go ( is it that easy? )
It’s not that easy depends on many factors reqs, interviews, your performance But from what I’ve heard it’s easier in amazon and google for transfers Don’t join solely on basis of this
You will have to be in sde2 role for atleast 1 year before you are eligible for international transfer. So if you join as sde1 , you will probably need to wait for 3 years (promotion + 1 year wait )
Pick Oracle it has better WLB for applications and server technologies. You won’t get much hike at Oracle so work there for few years and then switch for SDE 2 role.
Being app developer myself hired through campus, I regret not taking amazon. Unless you want to work on oracle adf you should steer clear of that profile.
Didn't try yet 😢
Oracle is very bad given 0 hikes and very laid back culture.. Go for Amazon and then make a switch after 1-2 yrs. Also Amazon on your resume will look better than Oracle. Also the ulture depends on the team you join in Amazon
Depends on your leetcode skills too. Don't go to Amazon without the confidence to easily switch to some other place.
YOE?
Haven't heard good things about the application developer role. Heard that the MTS role is the SDE role. Join Amazon imo. Had a senior who joined Oracle as an apps developer and switched to amazon in 2 years. You can also join Oracle and prepare for better companies as the WLB is pretty good
I’ll suggest Amazon but there are lot of threads on blind suggesting work culture is not good. My friends too have bad experiences. Check for projects in Oracle ask around for the team you’ll be joining if it’s working on something which interests you go ahead with Oracle.
