I was approached by an Ex manager 1.5 years after I left Microsoft for Meta. Are the optics really bad if I go back to Microsoft? The offer is really good. I’m currently E6 with 550k tc at Meta. I’m being offered L66 at Microsoft with 688k tc. Base is 240k, bonus target is 48k (20%), I’ve gotten 1M stocks over 4 years, and I’m getting 300k cash joining bonus over 2 years. TC will drop to 538k in year 3 but I figure I always have the option of finding another position then.
Thanks for your answer! Yeah. I’ve had a fairly productive working relationship with this manager.
1.5 years is almost likr 5 years in the IT industry. But at the end of the day it is your decision if you think it is too early to switch.
Thanks!
I’d go if you think manager will provide opportunity to get to 67 in two years. Because that is good and you can stay at MSFT for longer and doesn’t look that you switch jobs every two years. Eh worst case you do job hop who cares.
Yeah. I liked working for this manager and think I’d have a growth path there.
Live ur life my friend. Do what’s best for you. Why should optics and what others think interfere with you living your best life
Thanks!
Had no idea MS was willing to pay that much. Shows the benefit of boomeranging or having multiple offers
I actually did not have a competing offer. Microsoft made a really strong initial offer and upped it a bit on some negotiation.
That's amazing. I would definitely go with MS for the next two years. I feel like I should take your approach and boomerang myself lol
Lol
Who cares about optics man. Seems like you know what you are doing and in right path. If MSFT doesn’t work out well this time around - you will find another good gig. You already have MSFT and meta in your resume .
Thanks!
What is final offer from Microsoft?
What was your level and TC before leaving ?
I was 65 for about a year with 370k TC before leaving.
Then in that case ask for L67? If possible
