Browsing through LinkedIn, I find many people with the title “head of *” at Uber. Normally I would expect there to be a handful of those people at a company, but Uber seems to have hundreds based on my possibly faulty LinkedIn search. Is this equivalent to a director at Google or FB?
I have seen many senior managers at uber use that title on linkedin.
Head of Blah, Blah Leader, Describing Self in Third Person are all for self satisfaction, they don’t really mean anything within the company or in terms of TC.
It's a way for managers to make themselves sounds more important than they are.

I had a friend in sales that was L4 but was head of something on his email sig and LinkedIn. It’s a meaningless title.
One dude did parlay a “Head of Deep learning” LinkedIn title to an actual Head of AI gig at a hedge fund. Lol.
Another title you will come across is Engineering Leader and it is just eng manager. I see Uber managers do this more often than I could find in other companies.
Head of Halal is real title
There are lots of "head" jobs on the Uber jobs site. I also never know what level that really means, could be as junior as a manager or as senior as a director.

Why does leetcode get so much hate?
No, Head is not a position or title given by the company. But they are self claimed. Most heads are managers.
Interesting. Thanks for the info!
Some are junior PMs, too.
