H1B with Meta or L1A with current company for faster GC
I was working in India and got Meta offer. Meta was happy to file H1B as offer time and H1B lottery application time were at same time, Feb. Before lottery results out I came to US on L1A as I was unsure about the lottery results. Now I came to know that I was picked up in the lottery and H1B petition is filed. Now the question is should I stay with current company for faster GC as I'm on L1A or should I choose Meta for higher TC? Pros taking Meta High TC, FAANG tag on resume Cons taking Meta Feared about WLB and meeting expectations of IC6, Perm issue, taking decades to reach GC I'm more inclined towards staying at current company. (not PayPal). What do you think is wise decision? Current TC - 220K, Austin Meta TC - 620K, IC6, Seattle
- Are you aware of the perm issues with meta? - L1A != EB1. Did you check with lawyers to see if you can get EB1? If so, definitely stay. If not change.

For folks choosing to stay, let me tell you a story. I had a grand plan a while back. I was going to move to the US in an L visa, get GC in 2 years, jump ship and start milking that juicy TC. This was march 2020. Instead we got a pandemic. Worked remotely for 2 years. Got visa and moved just recently. Now I missed the hottest tech job market in history. The economy is going to the gutter and who knows how things will look when I get my GC. OP you have a 3x offer in hand. This is a certainty. GC can go fast in your current job or not. You might get fired and need to leave the country as well. I'd take the bird in hand and deal with the consequences later (if any).
You didn't miss the market. All that high tc was tied to stocks. Ppl in my company got 500k stocks at 480$ right now we are at 170$ It's almost same for all companies. Roblox was at 100$ now at 30 they gave 800k stocks last year none of them vested yet
Apply eb1 from your current company. Get the GC first, then move out to other companies unlike Meta that has perm immigration issues
Meta can still apply for EB1 after H1-B
I'm sure it can not be on EB1, but Eb2 or 3
Jump once your i485 is approved. Since you priority date will be current, the process should be fast enough.
