Hey guys, I just received an offer from Databricks in Amsterdam. I currently work as a Senior Data Engineer for TomTom, with PhD in CS and 3 YoE (after the PhD) with a TC of ~75k. The offer (in Euros) I have from Databricks is for a Solutions Architect, level L5: - 102k base - 18k bonus - 70k RSUs (per year) - A ton of other small benefits that I don't have now Of course it's a super good offer, 2.5x the current one. I would like to understand how it compares to similar positions in Amsterdam. Thanks! #databricks #tomtom #amsterdam
It's awesome offer considering YoE and current TC, just go ahead and take it.
Take it Congrats ! Can you also tell us a bit about the interviews :) those RSUs will go cha-ching on IPO ( do u know what valuation u getting them at )
This post reports the exact same price I'm getting them at: https://www.teamblind.com/post/Instacart-vs-Databricks-bLmsmNuq

Yes, please give an overview of the interview process ...
I signed an NDA for the interviews.. but I guess I can share at least that it consisted of 9 interview rounds: hr, hiring manager, coding exercise (at home), behavioural, system design, technical, hiring manager, interview with VP, interview with Director, references, offer. They want 3 references (2 managers, 1 peer), they call them and have 30min chat.
This is quite unheard of. In the UK the references are relayed to HR, who basically confirm the employee existed. Regarding references do the peers/managers have to be from the current company? Or can we give references from people who have left the company, but habe worked with us.
This offer is really good for all of Europe, not only Ams. Interested to know how was the hiring process.
I posted a description of the process in another comment. Even though it consisted of many steps it was rather quick. I applied on April 22nd, got the first reply on the 26th, first 2 interviews on 30th and the offer on the 19th, I'm happily surprised.
The offer is very good for Europe. Databricls pays top bucks for European standards. It's like the next best thing to the valley outside of the US
Slightly lower / very similar to L5A Eng in Uber
Just take it
