Why did Meta give offers for 2023 New Grads if it plans to rescind 2022 offers?
Why did Meta give (few) offers for 2023 New Grads to interns if it plans to rescind 2022 offers like mine? This is not even counting the many (according to the discord) who are in bootcamp and will very likely be let go later this year. ??? TC ~= 100k GPB #meta #facebook #newgrad
Because they don’t respect people enough to give then certainty and would rather make promises that they can rescind later. If the market turns around then they already have a pipeline of talent established, but if it doesn’t they will just rescind again. Facebook (I will never call then meta) is an immoral company. Look at this as an opportunity for you to get an internship somewhere better and just take it as a life lesson. It happens, sorry, but maybe you dodged the cult bullet.

The Intern conversions worked for them and thus have a known perf level. The off the street hires don’t? Or if you are saying both are former interns, only rational I can think of would be … that it allows them to push out the onboarding of talent to a later time … and if things haven’t recovered by then or if it isn’t needed at the time they do the same thing again. If that were true it means that meta’s culture is one of “we pay you enough to overlook just how f’d up we are … Move fast and break things I guess All that said, I hope that is more fear feeding on itself on the discord rather than the truth of what Meta has planned.
