NRI - Non resident Indians. Question says it all
Very tough
One day when our kids will grow up and throw us in an elderly care home we would remember the times when we chose luxury and lifestyle over taking care of the ones we love. We work it out the same way as someone said above alternate year trips but mid term plan is to relocate to a nearby country like hkg Singapore etc to settle. Preserve the lifestyle and be in a short travel range.
Do what you can and expect nothing back when you are at the same stage

Tough question I think about every day in left. Btw, heard about this company Munchijee.com
A bunch of losers here...wow, these people r not goin back even after havin a lot of savings in their bank account... I’m goin back in a few years... just paid my education debt... now, I wanna earn a few bucks n enjoy the temporary American life before i leave... if I was one of the parent of these people commenting here, I would be ashamed to call them my son/daughter..
Avkh04 I applaud your decision to move back. But please realize that many just start out with plans/ thoughts of returning after a few years and end up falling prey to the X=X+1 syndrome. Ie your statement "bunch of losers" could apply to you in a few years. Just be aware...all the best!
Totally, people are so selfish.
In same boat with that tough question. I am making hard stop on my career growth and going back India in mid 2019. No matter what job prospects look like over there. I know life will be hard in India but it will be more hard to live if something happens to my mom and I will not be around in her last years. Gladly siblings are taking care for now.
mid 2019 is nearby, how's it going for you? still moving to India. I'm in same boat and planning in next few years.
Hello, are you back to India yet?
One thing I noticed in our tech company environment and accidental surroundings. We are tend to go away from reality, our definitions of success, satisfaction and happiness need a lot of re-calibration. We see all time people around in our tech environment talking about package, RSUs/stocks, bonus, what other got and switching to other better job, etc. we will never be satisfied & we are not the only one to be blamed for it, just this is how we are breathing in this echo chamber :(

The hard question!! Fortunately, Parents are doing fine in their sixties. I have sibling (brother) who lives with parents, so he usually takes care of parents. My parents visit US alternate year and we visit India every alternate year. So far so good. Honestly I'm bit concerned about their later stage, but do not want to give up my lifestyle and well being of my immediate family (wife and kids) and return back to India.
I wish your children when grow up should say the same to you on your face. And ur shamelessness is reflected that how ur parents are no more part of your immediate family.
^^ They will, and there wont be any "brother" to take care.
