PSA: HR IS NOT YOUR FRIEND

For the engineers out there. it is less hassle to quit than complain to HR about anything. HR is never your friend.

IMS Health lnxrx Aug 30, 2017

That's true for any tech companies

Databricks datadicks OP Aug 30, 2017

That's true for any company. Ftfy

Twitch EPBQ13 Aug 30, 2017

This is true

Microsoft Am1Evil Aug 30, 2017

True true true true

Amazon biatch Aug 30, 2017

"Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family." Michael Scott

Imgur Eggplants Aug 30, 2017

If I had a gun with two bullets and I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice.

Google OogieBoogi Aug 30, 2017

^ underrated reply!!! 😂

VMware yvJS68 Aug 31, 2017

Definitely under rated.

Boeing RallosZek Aug 30, 2017

I once complained about unethical Behavior about my manager to my HR department and the next day my manager pulled me aside and asked me about it

Databricks datadicks OP Aug 30, 2017

HR is always on the manager/company's side

Zenefits menH12 Aug 30, 2017

That was super unprofessional

GoPro @@@@@@ Aug 30, 2017

Not always on manager's side. Always on company's side.

Uber staffEng Aug 30, 2017

Don't complain about issues at work to HR, just write a blog about it lol 🤣🤣

Salesforce netto Aug 30, 2017

Make sure to do proper marketing of the blog too

Facebook Zhuowei Aug 30, 2017

And to write a book first!

WRKSHP 🌧️☔ Aug 31, 2017

Hope your blog goes viral and the internet mob does your complaining for you!

Google MwBW01 Aug 30, 2017

HR works to protect the company from lawsuits, not to protect YOU from your coworkers. Unless your issue is big enough to take your employer to court over, HR Will always attempt to sweep it under the rug.

Twitch EPBQ13 Aug 30, 2017

And if you work at a "disruptive" company where execs believe the government doesn't real, they may blow off even lawsuit material

Airbnb jTUk50 Aug 30, 2017

And if it's big enough to take them to court, but the lowest risk approach is to fire you, they will find a way

Microsoft xHKC12 Aug 30, 2017

HR works for the company. They are paid by the company. To protect the company. Notice the common word there?

NewRelic LOGOBR Aug 30, 2017

"The"?

Amazon ikr!? Aug 31, 2017

*facepalm*

Salesforce save Aug 31, 2017

Lol

HPE WTHpe Aug 30, 2017

I've already complained to HR because a manager, during a meeting, asked my age to only say I was still young/naive just to "prove" a point. He got a 25% pay cut that month.

Pure Storage JR3573 Aug 30, 2017

Wow!! 4 people quit because of my old manager within 6 months and she got a fucking promotion. SUCH a joke.

Wish vandelay Aug 30, 2017

Young age isn't a protected class...

Google eYiX63 Aug 30, 2017

Sure, you get to peek into his paycheck. Can't believe that got 5 likes

Microsoft undefined Aug 30, 2017

What kind of thing are you talking about? How can we judge if you raised a real issue or some bullshit?

Boeing RallosZek Aug 30, 2017

One person's bullshit is another person's real issue

Microsoft undefined Aug 30, 2017

No not really

Airbnb jTUk50 Aug 30, 2017

Is there a decent chance of you winning a lawsuit over it? Then it's a real issue

Google dgrvdv Aug 30, 2017

This goes doubly in the case that you're a white male. HR is automatically biased against you.

Pure Storage JR3573 Aug 30, 2017

So ridiculously true.

Microsoft Am1Evil Aug 30, 2017

Confirmation bias. They're biased against everyone who complains.

Google dgrvdv Aug 30, 2017

Not at Google. HR is overrun with SJWs.

Adobe RSPW64 Aug 30, 2017

HR is there to protect the company, not you, never forget it
