I'm looking for a MacBook and digital audio workstation/system to record piano and acoustic guitar for a folk album, and throw a few simple, lo-fi beats on some original songs that would be sufficient for a professional grade demo. Nothing super EDM. Can anyone recommend tech specs for Macbook that can handle the job, as well as an interface and DAW that won't add any noise or buzz? In the past the I've gotten Macbooks for this but could never add reverb without straining the processor. Looking for something sufficient to add effects but with a clean sound. Thanks!

I guess you need a decent $300+ mike (I use audiotechnica but its because it best fits to my voice and I do voiceovers mainly: not instrumental recordings — but what you use will depend on the room, acoustics, instruments etc so buy andplay with a few of them, and return the ones that don’t work back (or keep them, having an expensive mic collection is also fun!h also you will need pop filters about the mac… even macbook air can do audio editing; the only thing that changes will be time it takes to encode: Su buy a mac air, and brew some coffee while the thing blends the audio channels together during production phase ;) Invest your budget in audio gear instead: You will thank me later.
Thanks. I've had issues previously with buzz issues from Sapphire interfaces to a MBP. Any recommendations on a great interface that won't result in issues?
If it is a constant buzz, it is likely a ground loop; or something to do with cables/wiring etc. Cheap midi cables can cause that issue at times. Investing in a power conditioner can help maybe. I didn’t have any buzz issues in my mbp so far. But again I didn’t have too many moving parts either. Summary: Check cabling, buy quality cables, ground loop Check for any other interference Sometimes moving the computer physically away from the recording studio can help too. Buzzes are nasty beasts: Good luck!
