reading some posts around i see uscis making applications current for 1 month in 2007 clearing alot of applications. current eb2 for india has alot of wait and wont be possible to clear in normal way. is it possible uscis will again go route of making dates current?
What do you mean by “making applications current for 1 month in 2007”?
Here is the visa bulletin from July 2007: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2007/visa-bulletin-for-july-2007.html Compare the "Employment" table with the bulletin for June 2007 (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2007/visa-bulletin-for-june-2007.html) and Aug 2007 (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2007/visa-bulletin-for-august-2007.html). You will notice that the priority date became current abruptly in July 2007 - effectively giving everyone stuck in the backlog an EAD. Also, those days "labor substitution" was possible i.e. the company could use a prior unused labor certification for an employee.
Thanks. But should we expect for this to happen again? Other threads mention that this may have been a clerical error.
Won’t happen without Congress I’m afraid.
Have to start thinking on the lines of how will it benefit the country(aka politicians) or the big corporates. Will it? Well the harsh truth is - they have a much better deal with these immigrants being on H1 or other temp visas. And they pay taxes too! So no, nothing happening. Unless there is a mass exodus of indians due to this discontent. Will that happen? Unlikely, given how indians love to leech around in US in anyway possible.
OP, yes it did happen, but from what I remember, it happened due to some sort of a clerical error!
So they made the queue as current. So people could file their I485. But that doesn't really help since so many people would file for AOS but the number of GC given would still be same. So only difference would be people would be stuck on AOS state instead of i140.
Yes it is possible. You will be naturalized by 2020. That’s the grand plan. They are just holding it to break the good news slowly to you. Source: A highly ranked officer from USCIS.
The sarcasm is strong with this one. Good one, though.
Many people here don't seem to know of this, so posting the specifics. I don't think that's a good idea.. at all. Why is GC backlog such a big issue when H1B is being unfairly spammed by the one country that has this GC backlog issue? If this backlog gets cleared, that's a greenlight for even more prevalent spamming from them. The consulting companies will no longer have workers on their chains so they'll be on a massive hiring spree to replenish all the H1B's they've lost.
> Why is GC backlog such a big issue when H1B is being unfairly spammed by the one country that has this GC backlog issue? Countries with the largest population of young people seem to produce most immigrants. Which part of that looked "unfair spamming" to you? > The consulting companies will no longer have workers on their chains so they'll be on a massive hiring spree to replenish all the H1B's they've lost. Lost? As in, they vanish into thin air?! The workers previously on backlogs will continue to be employed in the economy. When backlog is removed workers get to move more freely between jobs in the economy. That labor mobility will lead to increase in wages for everyone, even you.
Look at population ratio of India to the world and look at what percentage of H1B petitions are Indian. Explain the difference in ratio if not spamming. The rest of the world doesn't even get the opportunity to move and work in the US because of their eligibility robbed by the Indians spamming the H1B lottery. And you want to complain about Indians working in the US not able to get a green card. I am not able to get the H1B because of them. Oh and since we're on that topic, look at population of China vs the H1B ratio of Chinese recipients. Look at the back log of China vs India and compare the population. What part of that math looks sound to you?
Dream on. With the current rhetoric about not even extending h1 beyond 6 years, this does not seem likely.
There wasn't any official announcement about not extending. There was an official one denying any such plans, on the other hand.
