They had a giant data breach
We did?
I worked there awhile back. An activist investor just bought a few shares and now the company wants to cut $100M. People have been fleeing.
Been working at athenahealth for a few years now. We are going through a lot of changes right now and I think it is all for the better. If we stayed with business as usual I would have started looking for a new job by now.
A friend worked there for years and bailed due to lack of career growth for non-managers.
At the end of last year they added an individual contributor career track. One weird thing is that our official titles are now Member of Technical Staff. We have Associate, normal, Senior, Lead, Principle, then Architect, Senior Architect, then I think Principle Architect. The manager track splits off after SMTS, "Engineering Manager", Senior EM, Director of Engineering, and i forget the titles after that.
Activist investor yes, but growing pains also a factor. 1 bn revenue 5000 employees hit last year, Investor Elliot mgt/ Paul singer feels EPShare is low due to spend and stock ergo undervalued. So some needed discipline targeted instilled. Always a leader in cloud and SaaS delivered, for technical folks a big sponsored growth in next gen microservices platform still on tap and fully supported by Elliot.
Heard the Austin office just laid a bunch of people off. Friend there said it was becoming really corporate, as a derogatory term.
Promotions suck , lots of Politics . Doesn’t matter how strong your performance is unless you are in the right group
What about final bids? Any idea who will finally buy this company?
Veritas capital and Elliot
Post this buy out will there be any head count reduction?
