Women in Tech Topic Only Accessible to...Women in Tech?

Hey @Blind, can we make the women in tech topic only available to women in tech? Not sure how this can be done, but it might be beneficial so there aren’t the men’s rights activist trolls and gender pay gap deniers flooding it with their pollution.

I don't know how they should do that and hope to convince us we're still anonymous

Hulu BetterWays Dec 28, 2017

They could allow you to change your profile gender at will. True, that would mean that anyone could change their profile gender specifically in order to access that channel, but not many probably would

PopSugar GrlDvlpIt Dec 28, 2017

I am all for this if possible.

Microsoft SIGKILL99 Dec 28, 2017

I'm a woman. With a penis. Let me in.

PopSugar GrlDvlpIt Dec 28, 2017

And here we go 🙄

Microsoft MP3 Dec 28, 2017

#triggered

Microsoft MP3 Dec 28, 2017

A request for a safe space on the Internet? Now I have truly seen everything.

Postmates Bttrfly Dec 28, 2017

Actually, you’re probably the biggest culprit of all. What’s your deal anyway? MP3 is always the first to rush to slam women on here.

Microsoft MP3 Dec 28, 2017

Because I don’t allow emotion to control my judgement and look at the situation in a logical way. I have also traveled quite a bit, talked to women and men in many countries. There is a pointless gender war in US. Look up happiness studies for women, they are the least happy now than ever before. Shouldn’t they be more happy since we made a lot more progress in female rights since 1950? Guess who fought hard against True gender equality (Equal Rights Amendment) that would make men and women truly equal? Women. You can learn so much from history. The social narrative looks at very few sides of the issue. Very few women in US have connected with their feminine energy and truly felt what it is like to be a woman. Sweden is #1 country in equality in the world right now, and what they are seeing is not 50/50 in all jobs, but instead men and women choosing work that is aligned with their gender roles, eg men want to be engineers and women nurses.

Postmates Bttrfly Dec 28, 2017

Yes, I agree. It would be more relevant to the topic and helpful to those interested in it.

Amazon blurryface Dec 28, 2017

I was agreeing with you until you mentioned gender pay gap.

Lyft LadyDev Dec 28, 2017

Yes!

Expedia yKxj80 Dec 28, 2017

Why? It should be open. If anything, some normal men may get a glimpse of the situation, along with the amount of creeps and trolls that swarm every similar thread, it’s eye opening.

Sephora Popple Dec 28, 2017

I can see that. It should be noticeable that @mp3 jumps onto every women related post and starts spouting off his men’s rights nonsense, living up to the “bro culture” stereotype. This is the stuff that makes it quite unwelcoming.

Microsoft MP3 Dec 28, 2017

I thought I had a right to have an option, free speech and all. All these threads and I see no factual data. Only “facts”, feelings, claims of oppression. Just because you feel something doesn’t make it objectively true. Just because ratio isn’t 50/50 proves only that it is a fact, nothing more. It doesn’t automatically imply oppression. Any politician know the first step in getting a problem resolved is to stop giving out blame left and right, because it puts people on the defensive. The first thing women do is make it sound like all men conspire against them. Literally breaking the most basic rule of politics. Contrary to what you may believe, men respond very well to true factual data, logical reasoning. Also, let’s consider this situation, purely hypothetically. If gender gap is a real thing, women work exactly identically to men (the work output, which is a reasonable claim, right?), wouldn’t that mean any company can replace their male engineers with female and save a ton of money? Hiring female engineers would literally cut costs. This is a cut-throat corporate America, look what Walmart, MacDonalds do to cut costs. Why aren’t companies replacing men with women if employing them is cheaper and produces same results? Perhaps, the pay gap isn’t real and/or women’s output is different than men’s? Perhaps, there is some data on this?

Creating a female only area on this app only succeeds in fueling stereotypes that women want special treatment. This would be quite harmful to women. In addition, of course, to maintaining anonymity.

Microsoft ThisOrThat Dec 28, 2017

Yes provide a woman only app. It comes with a fainting couch

Spotify Gdee20 Dec 28, 2017

Yes, how can this be made all women? It shouldn’t bother men that this is something we want. Not sure why several feel like it’s hurting their manhood by this. The section is women in Tech.

Amazon Hooliganss Dec 28, 2017

The core issue is that women strive to be treated equally, and then demand a private area just for women.

Spotify Gdee20 Dec 28, 2017

No, the core issue is that you are triggered by us wanting this group. 💁
