What if GE pulls out?

Any ideas on what would happen?

From personal experience I can tell you what happens if they DON’T pull out...

GE employee here. A number of senior executive band and officer level folks are moving to Boston. This won’t go away. It would have to be another MASSIVE blow to GE’s solvency to drive a change like this. So do realize that GE isn’t building the third structure anymore and will be highly cost conscious moving forward.

I think most people understand that it's really the headquarters in the headquarters is not really the bulk of employees. This isn't really a job started it just moving jobs by themselves. I know that some might Advocate and say if you have certain types of companies in the given area that I can attract talent but until the cost of living in Boston drop we're going to continue to see an exodus of younger people. I would make the argument that since the Olympic bid didn't work and the F1 bid didn't work and Wynn Casino is being debated at the very least that Amazon might not necessarily come to Boston. GE right now is more about window-dressing it looks nice but it doesn't specifically add anything.
