How should I best prepare for front end focused interviews? Do I focus on leetcode type questions or is it better to study more domain specific categories? What do the FANGs focus on more?
Front end engineer at FB here. Depends on which company. Google and FB focus on front end questions that requires solid CS foundations, while other places like Airbnb, Lyft, Dropbox have higher emphasis on practical front end familiarity itself (code in codepen)
So would it be fair to say it's hard for an Airbnb's FE engineer to apply a FB job?
It depends on whether the Airbnb engineer had a solid CS background. All roles at Google and FB will make sure you have solid CS fundamentals during the interview, even for specialist positions. Other companies, not so much
Practicing tree traversals and reviewing data structures but I'm nervous it's not enough. I've been working on iOS / Android too long
I came through UI pipeline. those type of questions you can answer only based on your prior experience - choose most optimal layout, ui events pipeline, etc. If you’ve never done it before, leetcode is no help.
