So I am working at this small company for about 2 months left my previous gig because they wouldn’t let me take vacation days. While working for this company I know the CTO and Team lead are a bit odd and don’t talk or communicate. While doing my job, I ask them for feed back they tell me everything is fine. My code is good despite the team lead tearing it apart and saying he was doing some tweaks. I ask for feedback and I am hearing from him everything is good. This gives me coding anxiety because I have to ask my self how would my team lead write this... taking 3 times longer to do a simple navbar programmatically. At the company we do everything vanilla and programmatically. I learn the tweaks he was doing were stylistic, functionality was exactly the same. So I realized he just wanted me to copy and paste his code. So as soon as I did that PRs start going in without tweaks. It took me about a month and a bit to figure that out, without any feedback. A couple of days ago I got a call from a recruiter asking if I wanted to work at this company at x salary. The company that I work for is looking to replace me, I realize that because they said they weren’t looking when I asked if my buddy can tag along. I also know it’s me because I specifically negotiated amount to the 100s of dollars. I am sitting here and I have a PR with no deadline my team lead doesn’t give me a due date and I am not feeling too well. I am thinking of keeping my head high doing the PR and finding a new job. Edit: better English ? TL;DR a recruiter contacted me,to fill a position that I currently hold. Recruiter didn’t know I was the one being fired.
The last two paragraphs were a bit hard to follow but if I understand correctly you believe your current employer is trying to replace you and you aren't getting the feedback you're asking for either. Plan for the worst and hope for the best, that's my motto. Figure out what the best scenario here is to you. You don't sound to happy from your post so.. Keep it cool and start looking for a better job. Don't engage the recruiter or you'll increase the chances they realize it's you and let you go before they have a replacement ready so you can't sabotage anything. (Who in their right mind would do that, I know, but here we are) It sounds like they've already decided to replace you and if they haven't, it doesn't sound like you're enjoying yourself there anyway. Best of luck!
Thanks and you are on point. Sorry I was writing this in distress
Yeah corrected
Still not able to comprehend
Sorry guys my English isn’t great. All in all a recruiter contacted me about this job. I knew we were not hiring, I asked twice a week ago. The job is to replace my job. When they fire me in two weeks
Why would the recruiter contact you to replace you?? They want to fire you and then replace hire you back?
The recruiter doesn’t know who is currently filling the position. Why would they? They just know they are planning to have an opening soon, what the requirements are, and what the expected salary is. So this recruiter is trying to fill the spot and happened to find this guy...
TL;DR should be easy to understand
Look for a new job. Message me directly and maybe I can refer you
Pmd!
Good luck OP!
It’s odd the recruiter would contact a current employee even if you weren’t the one they’re replacing. What an awkward situation. Are you certain they aren’t adding someone but just aren’t sharing that information with you? Hope you find something else if this is indeed the situation.
I let the recruiter know that I wasn’t gonna tell them where I worked, recruiters are pretty nasty in Toronto, one had told the CTO that I was looking I know because my manager told me why I was fired off the record. I am certain they don’t have space for another dev.
What a bummer of a situation. Hope you land well.
Wtf does your title even mean.
