I'm applying for an AI position for a London based management consultant company that is looking to open it's first north America office. It's a small company of 130 people, and she is speaking directly with the founder. The recruiter said that the salary offer would depend on my experience and current salary. She asked me to send my resume and current salary.... But I heard lots of people said not to share your current salary. What should I say without being rude and sounding horrible? Should I give her my salary? Maybe the fact he is from British, maybe that is normal to ask for current salary? Help please, I'm not sure what to do. Edit: I'm very much underpaid. But I have a guranteed promotion next year, with a 15-30% increase in salary. My current salary is 56k, she said I could give her a range. What would be a normal range to give?
If you don't want to share, say: I am searching for my market value.
i think they might be trying to save time if they cant meet your expectation. you can politely refuse to disclose salary but you can tell them range of your desired salary. that way neither party waste time
Tell him you are paid above market and you expect competitive salary. Be as vague as possible.
In the uk tech workers get paid very shitty. First person in their North American operation? Yea they are gonna give you a super shit offer, guaranteed

If you are underpaid, don't share. If you are overpaid, do share.
