NYC to Bay Area thoughts

I’m currently living in NYC and thinking about moving out West. What are the pros and cons of living in the Bay Area?

Hmm a lot of these apply to NYC too. But as someone that moved from the Bay to NYC a couple years back, I would add these cons: Horrible dating scene for men Need to drive everywhere and sit in traffic Everyone you meet works in tech Less lively, less cool stuff going on Feels like you get less for your money compared to NYC

nyc isnt for families... plan ahead a bit and get out of there. meet a girl and move to cali together. or just move out here

Only time it’s a good move is if you’re female, the dating scene is incredible for women here (assuming you are into techies). Otherwise it’s worse on just about every measure except for weather.

There is nicer weather here and you can drive to the coast. That’s it. Everything else will drive you insane. You’ll want food at night and things are closed, people have needles in their arms in SF, everyone (including men) are unattractive. One other thing in bay area’s favor: daily things are more relaxed and feel easier to do. By that I mean going to Trader Joe’s here is a lot easier than going to union square ever.

Ok get a girlfriend before coming here so you don’t have another post on blind about dating after like a week moving here.

Honestly, it’s not as bad as it was a couple years ago

Don’t do it unless you’re really into outdoor shit. NYC is 100X the city SF is. And I’ve lived here 15 yrs. I’d move to NYC for the right job personally. We are paying Manhattan prices here to live in SF.
