I am a single woman/no kids who may be getting a job offer in San Jose. What are the pros and cons of living there?
Pros - Depends on your industry, you may have good options if you decide to move. Awesome weather ( depending on where you are moving from ) Cons - Crazy cost of living, bad bad traffic ( depending on where you end up living ) Good luck !
Thanks. If I relocate, I’m going to rent as close to my office as possible.
If your office happens to be in prime neighborhoods - example Cupertino or Palo Alto expect to pay like 4000-4500 pm for 2 bed
Depending on where you're coming from; cost of living, the ghetto places to live, depending on where you move; the people.. SJ can really suck. Did i mention traffic? Pro's: jobs, salary, number of people. Yes, i realize people are both pros and cons
What places are “ghetto” that I should avoid? Thanks.
Anything that isn't a house to rent. I don't mean a duplex or any other plex. Most of the old apartments suck too. Don't settle for the first place you see. Don't live near the busy streets. Ect
Weather in San Jose is so much better than the windy cloudy chilly San Francisco. I consider this a pro.
I can take you around and re ignite your saying spirit ;)
Curious, where are you moving to San Jose from? Because It’s not as great as the Peninsula or SF imo, but better than say, Sacramento
Oregon.
lol what’s so good about the peninsula? It’s so boring and is inhabited by a bunch of NIMBYs
San Jose is nice, if you prefer a nicer/newer apartment with open area explore South San Jose, Milpitas, Evergreen areas, If you want to totally avoid traffic stay close to office. Close proximity to hikes, good places to eat.
95110 is a good zip code, plenty of nice apartments on north 1st.
Cons: San Jose is a strip mall with a zip code
Downtown San Jose is awesome. Great places to hang, eat and chill. It’s in a constant state of improvement so anyone that hasn’t been here in more than a year has no idea what it’s like anymore.
Cons: it’s expensive, it’s crowded Pros: lots of single men (if you’re into that sort of thing)
I am, but I’m 36 and have pretty much given up on dating.
Its never too late, I’ve read some people have found dates on Blind. Life is all about keep trying 😃
