Hi all, I have a Microsoft Program manager interview coming up. I wanted if it's a norm to ask coding questions in interviews, and if so what advice would you give me to prep for it considering i have just a week left! - I still don't know what team I ll be a part of!
Yes, it's the norm (at least on my team). You may have one dev on the loop. I would suggest running through a few questions from leetcode just to keep your mind churning as the interview comes up. Don't stress a ton though, syntax won't be as critical for a PM, just "can you think through problems like/with devs? will you be able to communicate/design with devs?"
Thanks! Really helpful! What team are you on though!?
Windows. WDG. Somewhere in there.
Some teams do programming questions (whiteboard coding, but often a fantasy language is okay), others are much more about design questions. It depends on the role, sometimes there is some clue in the job description and the responsibilities you would encounter in the job
I have a dev and my skip manager ask me to code during on-site
Leetcode! Basic algorithm and data structure knowledge is definitely expected. But more than anything design design design
Thanks!! By design you mean product design Qs, product improvement Qs and the likes right! Do they also ask to wireframe designs!? I mean they could coz that's relevant
