MSFT Bay Area Teams / PM Roles?

Team - need your guidance. I’m transitioning out of from being a successful startup founder (small exit so still have to work!) to wanting to gain experience on products at massive scale. I have ~20 years experience and the roles I’m looking at private companies have cash comps of around 350k + RSU or stock options (likely TC in the 450-600K range; more if it’s early stage funny money). 1. I’m curious what level this might be at MS and what groups in SF are best (MS seems *very* Redmond centric so I suspect your answer will be discouraging). 2. Curious (for those of you are senior folks) what level / title is appropriate (if it helps, my AWS buddy says I’d be leveled as Director of PM / L8; though I’m flexible myself). Functionally, I’m a Product founder (PM, PMM, Marketing). I’ve worked at large companies (first 10 yrs).

It all depends on the following : 1. What $ was exits ? 2. What value you created for customers and does it align with MS products 3. What was your title at the company that acquired your startup (assuming exist was acquisition) 4. The acquirer company size compared to MS

I have seen several times MS acquiring companies (which were great value to MS) for $200M+ , founder/cofounder getting Director title. otherwise if tiny exit, you will be treated as any other applicant and expect TC of $400K - $450K in the Bay Area ..if all goes well

Plenty of PM teams across a range if tech. Offices in Sunnyvale and mountain view

Not to discourage. I do not see large PM orgs here in Sunnyvale. For director level PM, you need to be in the north. I see high level dev managers/directors, but not PM here.

I know several at that level working there
