Investment advise for 25 year old with 100k

I am 25 and have around $100k in savings. Have been thinking of starting to invest. First of all, not sure where to start from. There is so much information online, and everytime I sit down to research, I get more conflicted about the options available. Any advice from experienced members here to where to start? Please only serious response.

Start with JL Collin's stock series, then read some relevant Mr Money Moustache or Financial Samurai posts. TL;DR Open a Vanguard account and put it all in the total market ETF

100% low fee index funds. I do a mix of SP500, total market, and international.

/r/personalfinance Learn the standard way of managing money (emergency funds, index funds, portfolio rebalancing, tax minimization, etc). Nothing against crypto currencies and other exotic investment vehicles. You can make a ton of money on them (and I'm sure many already have), but before you take drastic measures, examine your other options first. Also, while you're at it, pick up a copy of A Random Walk Down Wall Street to get some historical context as to what's going on right now.

Good advice here. For a more hands off approach, take a look at Wealthfront or Betterment. They give you a portfolio of low cost index funds (most from vanguard) and they automate everything you should normally do yourself: - rebalancing - investing dividends or new deposits in the appropriate funds - optimize for taxes (some funds are more appropriate in tax-deferred accounts, others in taxable - minimize taxes on widhtdrawals - give you fancy features like tax loss harvesting - and more

How do you have $100k in savings working at Amazon?

Google challah2 Jan 13, 2018

Any reasonably performing college hire into amazon can do that by 25. If you haven’t, take a good look at your spending.

Amazon DaFunk Jan 13, 2018

That’s just 3 years of work, I’m very curious as to how that breaks down.

it depends in your risk tolerance and involvement. if you want extremely low risk, money market account but risk to inflation. next bonds. next low cost index funds across domestic and international (vtsax and their foreign option), next mutual funds, individual stocks, real estate, angel investing, last is crypto for high risk tolerance. note lower risk generally means lower reward. yout job is yo optimize risk and reward based on your tolerance.
