I have an offer there. Study up on easy-medium leetcode problems, they have a fairly standard problem set. You may get C++ specific questions if you listed it in your initial application. Bloomberg cash comp is very competitive and they usually match offers.
I got an offer last year for an internship. Turned it down. Had an “expedited” interview process this year, straight to onsites... but no offer.
That is hilarious
Is working there a good idea? Last I read on Glassdoor a few years ago, people were saying the tech was ancient and it was a career killer
Tech isn’t that old. They use C++11 on newer projects. Bunch is done in Scala, Java, Python if you pick the right teams. Dunno about career killer but they’re having a lot of turnover to Big4 from what I’ve heard. Bunch of people also go to trading companies eventually according to LinkedIn.
Tech old. FORTRAN running around and not allowed to use public cloud for most products.
There is nothing standard about the interview process at Bloomberg. It depends every time on the team and position, and the interviewers. We don't have a standard set of questions and it's upto interviewers discretion every time. Honestly, it's not great because ultimately it's the luck of the draw.
This is true, also I must say I found few of the interviewers to be incompetent.
Interviews are usually 3 on 1 or 2 on 1 which can be nerve wracking. I got a ridiculously hard problem. It made me feel better later when my friends with offers from Google and Amazon took over an hour to solve it while working together
Ft? What question was it? I had 3 on 1 for internship
It's a bit hard to explain without diagramming it. Given a tree (not necessarily binary tree), find the size of the largest connected component of nodes with the same values in linear time and constant space
May I know your graduation date? Is it Dec 2018 or May 2019?
Normal coding interview in the morning. They gave you a lunch box to injoy in the break. If you're doing good in the morning, afternoon will be interviews with hiring managers. Otherwise send home right after break. Note that in the morning it's not 1:1 interview. There might be multiple people joining, even though only 1 or 2 will talk.
I had a 3-on-1 interview. It was fun though, coding on those Bloomberg pads is a lot more ergonomic than a whiteboard.
