Am I naive by assuming that US investors are excluding themselves from the majority of ICOs offered at the moment? Seems like we are missing out on good opportunities. Should I not worry about this “small” detail since this is crypto?
You need to be an accredited investor aka make > $200k per year.
So if you make that amount, do you automatically become an accredited investor, or do you need to "register" somewhere?
AFAIK you don't have to register anywhere but you might be asked to prove it through pay stubs when it's a requirement for an ICO.
In theory yes, but for all the investments I’ve never been asked to show proof. It’s more of a “cover your ass” if someone tries to sue the the investment offerer for creating a risky investment
I know you’re not allowed to invest if you’re a US citizen, but what about non US citizens living in US? Anyone has any idea?
You can invest ... I am one of the them ;) - you got to submit your home country details to pass the KYC
Oh okay. That’s good news. Thanks!
You haven't done your research. Unless you are an accredited investor, its pratically impossible for US investors to get through KYC process
What would be KYC process? Just wanted to get informed as I am learning about cryptocurrencies world. Thanks!
Not all ICOs require KYC. Also not all require accredited investor status. I know that those that don’t are likely more risky. I’m really just trying to gauge how many people are clicking the checkbox “no I’m not a US citizen” when they really are. But I appreciate the insult @dumper. I bet you know more than everyone.
