Is it helpful to PMs while changing jobs between different companies?
Not worth much, unless you want to be a TPM (project management). Product isn’t project management. Even if you want to be a TPM, questionable value.
For Product Management, the PMP certification is not as relevant. It may be useful for Program Management
Not relevant to any respectable company.
Useless for getting a job as a PM.
As someone above said. It's respected. If your moving or working in the project management or in the Technical Program Management space itdoes help quite a bit.
A friend of mine moved to a Fed job - PMP was listed as required in the JD. There are orgs that value the cert.
Here's a secret: Most of the 'required' fields on job reqs are bullshit. I'm not sure if I've ever met all of the requirements for any job and I'm transparent about it.
In general yes you should apply however governmental jobs are more strict in terms of meeting the requirements.
It’s only a “nice-to-have”.
I think it is respected
