As title states. No kids, no obligations. Also, how much is your rent?
I was pretty good at my old job at $80k (base) but my rent was $700. $80k is lowballing, of course, but I never wanted for anything. (of course I make much more now)
Probably shady neighborhood?
Lucked out on rent control.
About tree fiddy. Joking aside it depends on your desired lifestyle. I like having my own place which is at least ~$2500. As a rule of thumb you shouldn’t spend more than 1/3 of your income on rent so decide what you’re willing to spend and work backwards to derive a salary.
For a while I thought 1/3 rule was on post tax income but some sources say pre tax. Do you look at the rule as pre or post tax?
Since you’re paying rent with post tax dollars I’d stick with that for calculating your ratio as well.

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
I pay 1800/mo for a bedroom with attached bath in the Mission. You need a post-tax liquid comp of at least 3.5K to be comfortable. Ideally 5K liquid comp per month.
5-6k/month post tax gets you a good living around here. That’s a comp of about 115-135k/year.
5-6k a month is like 90-110k.
