Hi all After graduating from Ivy League, I got fooled by a VP and fell into semiconductor industry. Even tho semi market is doing great, they pay low (except for NVDIA). I did pure technical work for 3 years and then got bored and jumped into business dev and marketing. Things move slow in this industry and pay raise is shitty in Bay Area. I’ve lost all my technical skill set and forgot programming. Now I can talk a lot and market pretty much anything but that doesn’t seem like a skill that can make me 200k/yr like my classmates and friends make in software. Unfortunately I’m one of those people that looked at crypticryncy everyday but didn’t ride the train 😭. I’m 30 and make around 160k tc in Bay Area. I love business side but this industry moves at such a small pace that it’s killing my passion. I wanna make money. Don’t even care what I do. Fuck “do what you love bullshit”. Please advise Thanks
Looks like a lot of complaints. What other areas or industries have you explored?
I made the mistake of buying the "QA is a foot in the door" line and got into the game industry. After years of being miserable, I'm getting out and looking forward to taking refresher courses in my field (networking) and learning programming. Good luck to you whatever path you decide to take!
I don't know why are you crying, u are making pretty decent money. If you are not happy work towards what will get you to be happy
You, a grown ass Man is blaming a VP for choice you made as an Adult? Is he holding you from working hard and moving ahead? Is he sabotaging your attempts to start a programming career? OP stop it, please.
I work hard lilttle man
Don’t act like u were in my shoes. Adults that come out of school often don’t have any clue what they get themselves into. It’s desperation sometimes that lead us wrong dump ass
