Heard people talking about the two cities have radioactive issue in the land which may impact human reproductive health. Anybody has more idea on that?
Hmm care to elaborate. Radioactivity am sure will be a bigger problem than jet exhaust imho.
Huh... Was thinking of moving there
The reactor meltdown they had at the RWC reactor plant in 1978 was pretty horrific. Have you considered buying a Geiger counter and do scans of the neighborhoods to see if the contamination is now down to an acceptable level?
What is the RWC stand for? Couldn’t find info on this and want to know more.
It was an ill-conceived desalination experiment on the bay using a graphite moderated reactor and as everyone knows, graphite has a positive coefficient of reactivatity that makes them hard to control. There was a partial meltdown and released fission products that affected Foster City.
There a several Superfund sites in the Bay Area from research, weapons and electronic production. There is a government agency taking care of that stuff. Just google Superfund sires.
SF shipyard was definitely a nuclear waste dump yard, efforts were made to clean but lot of corruption. http://www.businessinsider.com/photos-of-sf-shipyard-transformation-2017-11
I’ve lived in the area my entire life (including Foster City) and never heard anything about such a thing.
I was looking for places to rent in rwc a couple of years ago and I did see a sign about radioactivity warning in one of the apartments. Not sure how true it is or not or whether it's dangerous. I did not end up renting in rwc (not due to radioactivity or anything)
That warning is there in apartment complexes of san francisco as well.
That warning is everywhere actually
You can check water contaminants in every city here : https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/search-results.php?zip5=94043&searchtype=zip#.WmX9i2KIaEe
Do you have any credible source regarding this?
No, that's why come to here to see if anybody knows. The only source I saw is an old post in 2010 saying there is a notice talking about this in the front of the apartments nearby the 99 Ranch grocery store of Foster City.
Another point to consider would be to see if you can get any data on the year over year birth rate in that area. I live in one of the cities you mentioned and I have not heard anything about radioactive soil here.
