Does Google really pay engineers 120k in Austin?
Talking to a few friends who are making 80k at Dropbox in Austin and 120k at Google in Austin, and 90k at Facebook in Austin. Does google really pay this much more for this area for 2-3 years experience?
This. _Someone_ at Google Austin is certainly making >$120K, independent of where the bottom of the payscale is. OP doesn't mention if they're asking about entry level. Or even if they're asking about engineering.
I've been told by friends at Google that they don't do market adjustments for pay, so everyone gets Silicon Valley level salaries. I don't know whether that's true or not.
90k number sounds too low for any FB engineering roles; are they interns or very fresh grads?

FB ATX is mostly sales, with some engineering support staff (some IT, etc)

Not in Austin they aren't. You'd probably live significantly better on $120k in Austin than $250k in SF.
You’re right, you would. But, I think Seattle is somewhat comparable, and 120 is pretty low.
